Holey SIW Horn Antenna Based on an H-Plane Lenswise Wavefront Collimation

This communication presents an H-plane substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) horn antenna whose directivity is enhanced using holey unit cells along the flaring. By wisely drilling antenna, it possible to reduce phase error in aperture which a common problem antennas if optimum dimensions are not used. An analysis of distribution has been carried out achieve desired equivalent refractive indices. changing hole radius, different indices can be tuned with wideband performance. fact enables implementation collimation zone inside transforms pseudocircular wavefront into quasi-planar one radiating aperture. The produced similar dimensions, but longitudinal reduction 53.7% and higher realized gain achieved. A SIW designed manufactured. measured results show impedance bandwidth performance below −10 dB from 34.3 44.5 GHz (25.9%) above 10 dBi. difference regarding without about 2–3 dBi operating frequency range.
